Hey, I’m Alex.

photographer · filmmaker · storyteller

I grew up in Iowa — not on a farm, but close enough to smell the cornfields. My passion for visual storytelling ignited in high school when I started shooting stills on the set of a local horror movie. That early experience behind the camera set the stage for a lifelong journey capturing compelling narratives.

After college, I spent over 13 years in Los Angeles, where I immersed myself in the world of reality television as an editor, contributing to renowned shows like RuPaul's Drag Race, The Real World, and more recently shows like The Floor and Pop Culture Jeopardy. I even had the opportunity to work on a Timothée Chalamet movie before he became a household name (Hot Summer Nights, look it up) . Filmmaking was my first love, and it naturally led me to the art of photography.

Now I'm based in Atlanta, and I specialize in creating bold, cinematic portraits that authentically represent you. My work has been recognized with multiple awards and featured in various publications, affirming my commitment to excellence in visual storytelling.

When I’m not behind the lens, you can find me exploring new places, indulging in reality TV ( I never miss an episode of Survivor ), or spending quality time with my best friend, Baxter—my dog (see pic) who, unlike the one in Anchorman, does not speak Spanish.

At AT8 Photo, it’s not just about taking pictures — it’s about telling your story the way your best friend would: honestly, boldly, and with heart. From headshots to editorial shoots, family sessions to once-in-a-lifetime love stories, every session is a collaboration. We’ll laugh, we’ll move, we’ll make something that feels like you.

AT8 Photo is built for real people with real stories. No stiff poses. No fake moments. Just you — your energy, and your milestones.

YOUR STORY. PERFECTLY CAPTURED.
